We employ around 300 people. Some are based in Edinburgh, where we have our headquarters, and others are in offices throughout Scotland. A board oversees our work.

Ronnie Cleland
Chair of the Audit Scotland Board
Ronnie has served on National Health Service (NHS) trusts and boards since 1992. He is a non-executive director of a search and selection consultancy; a member of the Court of the University of Strathclyde and non-executive adviser to the Scottish Football Association.

Accountable Officer and Auditor General

Katharine Bryan
Katharine was chief executive of North of Scotland Water and Northern Ireland Water. She was chair of the Joint Nature Conservation Committee and the Committee on Radioactive Waste. She is non-executive director and member of the audit committee of Defence Estates (MoD) and board member of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation.

John Maclean
Independent, non-executive director of the Audit Scotland Board
John has held non-executive directorships at the Bank of Scotland, where he was chair of the audit committee, HBOS plc, the Bank of Western Australia and asset management company SVM Global, where he chaired the audit committee. He is currently a member and deputy chair of Court at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Russell is responsible for the external strategic and development work of financial audit, as well as auditing and accounting standards, technical support and quality assurance.

Barbara Hurst
Director of Performance Audit
Barbara leads a team which conducts performance audits across central government, health and local government.

Fiona Kordiak
Director of Audit Services
Fiona is responsible for the in-house audit services we provide to the health, central and local government sectors, including the audit of financial statements, governance and performance management.

Diane McGiffen
Chief Operating Officer
Diane is responsible for the internal operations and business performance of Audit Scotland and chairs the Management Team.

Fraser McKinlay
Director of Best Value and Scrutiny Improvement
Fraser is Controller of Audit and manages a team which is responsible for carrying out Best Value audits and developing scrutiny coordination. It also produces overview reports, statutory reports and handles correspondence to Audit Scotland.
