Benefits at Audit Scotland

A rewarding role

The very work we undertake here at Audit Scotland can make a real difference to the way public services are delivered across Scotland, thus we have the ability to substantially affect the lives of Scottish people as a whole. Why not have a look at our main publications site to see the scope and impact our projects have had in areas such as education, health, central or local government.

Financial reward

You will participate in our Contribution Based Pay system (CBP) where you will be rewarded with annual pay progression based upon your personal contribution. This occurs each April following your annual performance appraisal and is based upon the achievement of your previously agreed personal objectives and how you have gone about your work - your behaviours, attitudes and skills. This is what we call our competency framework.

Salary ranges for each job are reviewed each year and the current ranges for our vacancies are clearly shown on the appropriate web page for each job. We place great emphasis upon personal and professional development, so the annual appraisal process is supplemented by regular informal meetings with your manager throughout the year. Your manager will discuss opportunities for career development, provide valuable feedback and agree what further training you might need to help deliver more effectively now and into the future.

Lease car

Some jobs at Audit Scotland require travel that necessitates a lease car. This will be clearly stated on the appropriate web page for the vacancy.

Our lease car scheme will provide you with a wide choice of car. Our base car is typically costed at the equivalent of a Ford Focus, Renault Megane or Volkswagen Golf and is provided without any further contribution from you. Should you choose a more expensive car then you will be expected to make a contribution for the difference each month.

Our fleet and the lease car scheme is managed by a dedicated fleet management partner and full details will be provided to you when you join us. Car users are reimbursed for business mileage.

Holidays

You will receive 25 days annual leave each year rising to 28 days after five years reckonable service. Reckonable service is any service within the UK public sector and does not have to be continuous. All employees are also entitled to 12 further public / general holidays each year.

Flexible working

Most staff are able to take advantage of our flexible working hours policy. This enables flexibility with regards your start and finish times and allows you to take flexi-days leave when you have accumulated enough time - up to 2 days per month, subject to business needs being met.

Audit Scotland also welcomes requests for other forms of flexible working and will seriously consider whether such working patterns can be accommodated. These include part-time, job share, annualised hours, term time working, short/long term secondments and fixed term opportunities. So if, for example, you need to care for dependents and thought it would be impossible to join Audit Scotland, we would very much like to hear from you with your proposals.

Pension scheme and life assurance

We offer a 1/60th final salary pension scheme under the local government pension scheme in Scotland. Your contribution rate is based upon your annual salary in accordance with a tiered contribution rate system.

Full details are shown on www.lpf.org.uk Your contribution is supplemented by a contribution from us as your employer. You will also receive death in service life assurance cover.

Health screening

Audit Scotland will provide you with a free, confidential and regular health screening appointment with our external occupational health specialists. This optional benefit is available annually if you are over 50 years of age or every three years for those aged below 50.

Relocation

Certain roles may qualify for relocation support offering assistance across a comprehensive range of areas associated with your move.
